Prof. David Margel is a leading urologic oncologist specializing in prostate cancer diagnosis, focal therapy, and advanced minimally invasive surgery. He serves as Director of the Men’s Health Center at Assuta Medical Center and is a Professor of Urological Surgery at Tel Aviv University.

Prof. Margel is recognized for pioneering advanced prostate cancer diagnostics and treatments in Israel. He was the first to perform MRI-fusion prostate biopsies in the country and established Israel’s first screening clinic for men with BRCA genetic mutations.

His clinical expertise includes focal therapies such as HIFU, TOOKAD, and NanoKnife, as well as complex urologic oncology procedures and personalized treatment strategies based on advanced diagnostics.

Prof. Margel earned his medical degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and completed a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Toronto, focusing on genetics and cancer prevention. He completed fellowships in immunology at the Weizmann Institute and in uro-oncology at the Princess Margaret Cancer Center in Toronto.

He has authored more than 145 peer-reviewed publications and is actively involved in international research and guideline development as a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) International Committee.

Prof. Margel is regularly listed among Israel’s leading physicians and is an internationally recognized expert in prostate cancer screening, genetics, and focal therapies.
